Thank you to everyone who came out to our second Open Mic Night and Social Mixer! This event was held at Mott St., located in Wicker park. Due to the perfect weather, we were able to host the event at the outside bar and patio area! We want to give a special shout out to Mott St. for their hospitality and great food and drink specials. The crowd certainly took advantage of the great deals. All of the proceeds from the event will be going to M.U.S.I.C. Inc. Children’s interests vary far and wide. Sometimes it’s a hobby to pass the time. Other times, it could be learning a new skill that reveals their innate talents. But what happens when a child gravitates toward a musical instrument like the violin? Do their parents simply pick one up as routinely as they would a gallon of milk at the grocery store? For many families in Chicago, it’s simply not that easy. Aside from the cost of the violin, other expenses include weekly lessons, a music stand and music books to name a few, and often times these expenses are too great for their income to justify.
