Q & A with Dhaea Kang
When did you start?
I started playing guitar and writing when I was around 13-14 years old. In college, I wrote and played a song for my sister at her wedding reception- that was the first time I played in front of people and I was hooked!
What do you hope to achieve through the Kollaboration experience?
I hope to connect with other artists and reach a new audience that otherwise wouldn’t have crossed paths with. It’s always exciting to meet people who connect with my music.
On a day off, you can find me…
Taking a random class around town to learn something new, tending to my patio garden, out with friends, exploring the neighborhood, reading, and of course playing music!
People would be surprised to learn that…
I have my own set of throwing knives. I’m not very good…yet.
My biggest inspirations are…
Those with whom I shared a significant life change, from living on our own for the first time to grieving the loss of a close loved one. I find that a lot of my songs are drawn from these experiences and the people I shared them with.
If I could perform with anybody in the world, it would be…
TLC! I used to dance around and lip sync to their songs in front of the mirror when I was a kid and pretend I was Chili, because we both had long dark hair.
