When did you start?
My older sister had been playing all her life, so when I was 6 years old, I was getting jealous and wanted to join her. I played classical music up until I was a freshman in high school, when I realized that I had a real passion for composing music and began playing more modern pieces.
What do you hope to achieve through the Kollaboration experience?
I believe that everyone out there has something that they’re particularly proud of, but all too many times, they either don’t pursue it, or let that special ability drop away from their lives. Kollaboration has held a special place in my heart. I absolutely love performing and spreading my music to other people. All I want is to be able to inspire even one person to empower themselves; to keep that dream and passion alive.
On a day off, you can find me…
On the couch relaxing with a cold blue moon watching Netflix!
People would be surprised to learn that…
I get extreme stage fright before every performance and almost uncontrollable shaking in my legs. I have to wear gloves with hand warmers before my performance so my hands don’t freeze up!
My biggest inspirations are…
Life. Both my own, and the lives of others. I draw all the inspiration for my compositions from my own experiences and emotions that I’ve felt. I want people to be able to relate to my music on an emotional level, so I try to convey it through the way I play.
If I could perform with anybody in the world, it would be…
With the London Philharmonic Orchestra! They play all sorts of modern music, from video games, to classic rock. It would be a dream to perform with them. Other than that, it would be a ton of fun playing with One Republic. They have really strong melodies and all their music tells a great story to the listener.
Michigan, in a suburb southeast of Detroit.
100% Taiwanese-American, and proud of it!
I play instrumental piano and will be performing something that I wrote.
